Uroš Rakić, PhD - independent advisor at National Cancer Screening Office, a representative of the National Cancer Screening Office in these project activities, participated in the meeting of the WP 9 Working Group - Meeting CANCON Work Package 9 Cancer Screening - Kick-out meeting in Helsinki on the 1-2 December 2016, in Hilton Hotel Kalastajatorppa, Helsinki”.


 

Summary of Meeting is the current status of cancer screening programmes throughout EU in relation to the implementation phase and running time of the programme. Participient of the meeting talked about the barriers and solutions for cancer screening  programmes in Finland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Norway, Poland, Spain and Bulgaria. This meeting involved topics related to the current status of breast cancer, cervical cancer and colorectal cancer screening  programmes throughout EU in relation to the implementation phase and running time of the programme. Governing and organizational aspects of screening are also discussed. 


 

A special focus has given to the evaluation of cancer screening, with topics including performance and effectiveness, health-economic perspectives, benefit-harm ratios, and communicating with decision makers, other stakeholders and general population.

One of the topics was potentially introducing new screening programs.
